How to Pray the Rosary

1. Make the Sign of the Cross.


2. Holding the Crucifix, recite the Apotle's Creed.


3. On the first bead, pray the Lord's Prayer.


4. On the next three beads, pray the Hail Mary.


5. On the chain, pray the Glory Be.


6. On the large bead, meditate on the first mystery and pray the Lord's Prayer.


7. On the next decade of beads, pray the Hail Mary.


8. On the chain, pray the Glory be.


9. Pray the Fatima Prayer after the Glory be.


The Joyful Mysteries (Monday and Saturday)

  • The Annunciation

  • The Visitation

  • The Nativity

  • The Presentation in the Temple

  • The Finding in the Temple

The Sorrowful Mysteries (Tuesday and Friday)

  • The Agony in the Garden

  • The Scourging at the Pillar

  • The Crowning with Thorns

  • The Carrying of the Cross

  • The Crucifixtion

The Glorious Mysteries (Wednesday and Sunday)

  • The Resurrection

  • The Acension

  • The Descent of the Holy Spirit

  • The Assumption

  • The Coronation of Mary

The Luminous Mysteries (Thursday)

  • The Baptism of Christ in the River Jordan

  • The Wedding Feast at Cana

  • Jesus Proclamation of the Coming of the Kingdom of God

  • The Transfiguration

  • The Institution of the Holy Eucharist

10. Repeat steps 6,7,8 and 9 for the next four mysteries.


11. After completing the five decades, pray the Hail Holy Queen.


12: Recite the following:


Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.


Let us pray:

O God, whose only-begotten Son,

by His life, death, and resurrection,

has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation;

grant we beseech thee,

that meditating upon these mysteries

of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary,

we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise.

Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.


13. End the rosary with the Sign of the Cross.
